What is Interventional Radiology (IR):
Interventional Radiology is the procedure to diagnose and cure diseases in the interior of the human body with the medium of the needle / guide ware / catheter / stent through guidance of X-Ray / USG / Fluoroscope / CT Scan/ MRI.
It is a system that can be easily diagnosed in a particular case, for example, to diagnose diseases, and can also be cured without the open surgery . Naturally, its risk and cost are relatively low. These types of interventions are widely used and publicly in the developed world.
By removing the fluid / abscess through the interventional radiology, the specimen is send to the pathology lab for further investigation. In this process, the machine uses a few dose painkillers, depending on the affected area, and the procedure is done through special needle / guideware / catheter / stent etc. It is less risky than the open surgery and it can be quickly cured.
In our country, such activities are in a very limited stage, whose expansion is now the demand of time. In view of this reality, Dhaka Central International Medical College has affiliated the world-class “IR Suite” with advanced technology intervention equipment’s and skilled -experienced IR Exparts trained at home and abroad.
